Street in Mathura named after Shailendra – Geetkar-Jankavi Shailendra Marg – Mathura

A street in the Dhauli Pyau locality of Mathura was named after Shailendra on March 9, 2016. शैलेंद्र – डाक टिकट | Shailendra – Postage Stamp

The Department of Posts of India has released commemorative stamps this year honoring eminent Hindi Film personalities to mark celebrations of 100 Years of Indian Cinema. Here is the postage stamp released in honor of Shailendra. Also released, stamps honoring Shankar-Jaikishan and Salil Chowdhury – music directors for whom Shailendra wrote most of his songs.

Shailendra’s Filmfare Awards

Shailendra won the Filmfare Award for Best Lyric(ist) three times. 1. ye mera deewanapan hai – Yahudi – 1958 2. sab kuchh seekha humne – Anari – 1959 3. main gaaoon tum so jaao – Brahmachari – 1968

National Film Award for Best Feature Film – Teesri Kasam

Teesri Kasam (1966), produced by Shailendra, won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film (President’s Gold Medal for the Producer). He also wrote songs for the film, including the unforgettable sajanwa bairi ho gaye hamaar, sajan re jhooth mat bolo and paan khaaye sainyaa hamaaro.
